A car accident in Valdese placed two minors in the hospital on Monday around noon.
It occurred at the intersection of Carolina Street and Massel Avenue, next to the Valdese Parks and Recreation Department. The minors were riding an E-bike together and failed to stop at the stop sign on the corner.
The vehicle, traveling southbound on Carolina Street from the direction of US 70 struck the bike as it crossed the street. The intersection is not a four-way stop, and Carolina Street does not have a stop sign at that location.
EMS transported the minors to the hospital for their injuries. The driver of the vehicle did not require medical attention.
The police department said, “Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and involvement of juveniles, the department asks the community to refrain from speculation and to allow the investigation to proceed.”
