Flooding concerns remain as Burke waterways begin to crest

Smaller streams and creeks in Burke County are beginning to crest, according to State Emergency Management and U.S. Geological Survey flood gauges.

With no additional significant rainfall expected, water levels should gradually recede. However, flooding remains a concern in some areas.

Lake James is projected to crest at 101 feet. Lake Rhodhiss is currently spilling and is projected to reach 104 feet.

Current closures include Bethel Park, Greenlee Ford access to the greenway, Antioch Road, Johns River boat access, and Spainhour/Bost Road.

Residents are advised to avoid flooded areas and never drive around barricades as conditions continue to change.
