The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the death of Michael Deandre Cowling, Jr., the 20-year-old Morgantonian who was shot in the head at a homecoming party in Lenoir in the early morning hours of Oct. 10.
Although first responders airlifted Cowling to a local hospital, he succumbed to the wounds and died.
According to the sheriff’s office, there were no other injuries at the party. They are not releasing the 16-year-old’s information at this time due to their age.
The investigation is active, and the sheriff’s office requests anyone who attended the 80-person party that has information to contact the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at 828-758-2324, or report anonymously to the Lenoir-Caldwell Crime Stoppers at 828-758-8300.
