Tri-County Speedway wraps up 2026 racing slate

Tri-County Speedway in Hudson hosted the Smart Electric Scream 330 season finale on Saturday, Oct. 31, with 16 Late Model drivers participating in the 75-lap feature.

After winning the pole with a lap of 15.523 seconds, Gavin Gleitsman spun his tires at the start of the race, allowing Coy Beard to lead the opening lap before Gleitsman was able to retake the top spot on the second lap. Gleitsman remained in front following the lone caution of the race on the 26th lap, but was ultimately pressured and passed by Lanie Buice, who took the checkered flag for her first-ever Late Model victory.

The rest of the top five, in order, consisted of Cameron Bolin, Diego Mendez-Torres, Slade Parsons, and Adam Murray, while Gleitsman settled for an eighth-place finish after Buice made contact with him late in the race and he slammed into the wall.

Twelve-year-old Konner Leicht won his first career pole in the 50-lap Limited Late Model feature, and he proceeded to trade the lead back and forth with Coleman Chapman for much of the race. It was Chapman who eventually came out on top for his first career win, while Walter Jenkins IV was the runner-up, Chase Pollard took third, and Jackson Tovo finished fourth after passing Leicht in the closing laps.

Tyler Church won the pole for the 50-lap Outlaw feature, although Sheflon Clay quickly passed him and led every lap en route to the victory. Finishing behind him was Church, while Trey Epps came in third.

Mike Hatton started from the pole in the 35-lap Street Stock race and led the first lap before Josh Goble — who drove Hatton’s backup car — took the lead. However, John Reynolds passed Goble on the fourth lap and ended up earning his ninth win of the season ahead of his 23-year-old son, Johnny Reynolds, who gave him a tough battle and even led a few laps himself.

“I’m blessed to get to still be out here winning races, but nothing beats getting to do it with my son,” John Reynolds said in victory lane. “That was incredible. I just wish my dad (the late Johnny ‘Pig’ Reynolds, whose racing career spanned four decades) was here to see it.”

Hatton was the third-place finisher in the Street Stock division, with Goble coming in fourth and Gary Aldrich rounding out the top five.

Klint Townsend won the pole for the 30-lap Renegade feature in his No. 9 race car, and after grabbing the early lead, it looked like he would find his way to victory lane. But after Townsend was forced to pit with tire issues on lap nine, Kyle Dubeau inherited the lead and was able to remain at the front of the pack for the rest of the race, with Jordan Layne coming in second, Shawn Thomson finishing third, Travis Cook taking fourth, and Michael Waldrop finishing fifth.

In the Carolina Mini Stock 25-lap race, Brian Mundy started from the pole and led most of the way before making contact with Jamison Whittington as they approached the finish line. As a result, Whittington took the victory, Mundy finished second, and Mark Goin came in third.

Also last weekend, Jason Garwood finished ahead of Skylar Brown in the FWD feature and Dominic Morlando and James Powell came in first and second, respectively, in the Crown Vic race.

The following drivers finished first in the season-ending points standings: Charlie Watson (Late Model), Jenkins (Limited Late Model), Dakota Slagle (Outlaw), Hatton (Street Stock), Dubeau (Renegade), Allison Greene (Mini Stock), Brown (FWD), and Morlando (Crown Vic).
