Burke County Board of Elections holds a vote count on November 5 after Election Day.

Burke County Board of Elections, like all county elections offices in the state, participated in a sample hand-to-eye audit of two randomly selected precincts on Thursday, Nov. 5. Burke Elections Director Kenny Rhyne (center) oversees the count conducted by (from left) Dawn Towery, Nina Horton, Susan Briggs, and Howard Westmoreland. No irregularities were found. Residents who expected no surprises in Burke’s election results were shocked to learn that Tim Moore, a longtime leader among the GOP, lost his bid to hold onto his Congressional seat.
