Can you believe that a meeting on March 2 with Ed Phillips from Burke Tourism helped spark what became Glen Alpine’s incredible America 250 Fourth of July Parade?
Seeing our community come together dressed in red, white, and blue was truly special. Everywhere you looked, there were smiles, pride, and a shared love for our country. It was a day to remember.
I couldn’t be more proud of how well this event was organized. A huge thank you to our Town Events team — Deanna Boone and Alicia Wilson, for the countless hours they spent planning and coordinating every detail.
Our Glen Alpine Police Department, Glen Alpine Fire Department, and Grounds Crew worked tirelessly to keep everyone safe and make sure our town looked its very best.
Thank you to Crystal Carswell at Town Hall and our board members for all of your support in helping make this celebration such a success.
I’d also like to thank the Burke County Sheriff’s Department, Burke County Emergency Services, the City of Morganton Police Department, our food truck vendors, First Baptist Church (the slaw was outstanding!), and the Burke County Board of Commissioners for taking the time to support our community.
If I’ve unintentionally missed anyone, please know how grateful I am. It truly takes an entire community working together to make an event like this possible.
A special thank you goes to our military for proudly leading the parade and to the more than 70 parade entries that made this year’s celebration one of our biggest and best yet.
God blessed us with a beautiful day, wonderful people, and a celebration that reminded us how fortunate we are. It’s great to be an American and thank God for the Town of Glen Alpine.
