This letter is addressed to the City of Morganton Team.
On behalf of the City Council and the City Manager, we want to once again take a moment to sincerely thank each of you for your exceptional efforts during Winter Storm Gianna.
The storm presented significant challenges, and your professionalism, preparation, and commitment ensured that our community remained safe and essential services continued with minimal disruption. Your commitment did not go unnoticed.
Because of your hard work — often in difficult and unpredictable conditions — we were able to continue serving our community safely and effectively.
Many of you went above and beyond your normal responsibilities, adjusted schedules, and supported one another to ensure operations continued as smoothly as possible.
We would like to especially recognize our Public Works and Water Resources teams. Your long hours, rapid response, and tireless efforts under difficult and often hazardous conditions were truly commendable.
From keeping roads passable and infrastructure operational to safeguarding our water systems, your work made a real and visible difference.
To our entire team, your dedication, resilience, and willingness to step up during this event truly reflect the strength of our team.
We are incredibly proud of the work you do and grateful for the care and responsibility you bring to your roles every day, especially during times like these.
Thank you again for a job well done. Please take pride in your efforts — you’ve earned it. With much appreciation.
