Why are you seeking election?
I am seeking election because I want to listen to the voices of our citizens and make sure everyone feels represented. I believe in investing in our youth and young families, supporting our hardworking town employees, and preparing Valdese for long-term growth that benefits all of us.
Our town has a unique history, strong values, and a bright future. I want to help strengthen our infrastructure, create opportunities for new businesses, and ensure that as we grow, we never lose the small-town spirit that makes Valdese special.
This campaign is about working together, listening to one another, and building a stronger Valdese for generations to come.
As a Navy veteran and an entrepreneur, I have always believed in service, and now I feel called to serve the town that has given so much to my family.
If elected, what will be the primary focus of your first six months in office?
If elected to the Valdese Town Council, my first six months will focus on listening, learning, and laying the foundation for long-term growth in our community. I believe that good leadership starts with listening to the people you represent. My priority will be to meet with citizens, community groups, and local business owners to understand their concerns and ideas firsthand.
At the same time, I will work with fellow council members to evaluate our town’s immediate needs — especially in infrastructure, fire and police support, and youth programs. Our hardworking town employees deserve to know their dedication is valued, and our Parks and Recreation programs must remain strong to provide opportunities for families and young people.
I also want to begin building stronger connections with local businesses and exploring ways to attract new growth while preserving the small-town character that makes Valdese so special.
The first six months are about setting a tone of transparency, accountability, and collaboration. My goal is to ensure every citizen feels heard and to take actionable steps that strengthen our community both now and for the future.
If elected, what is the legacy you hope to achieve during your tenure in office?
If elected to Valdese Town Council, the legacy I hope to achieve is one of connection, growth, and lasting impact for our community. I want to be remembered as a councilwoman who was present for our community, valued every voice, and worked to make decisions that benefited all citizens, not just a few.
My goal is to help position Valdese for smart, sustainable growth — strengthening our infrastructure, supporting our local businesses, and creating opportunities that keep young families rooted here while honoring the history and traditions that make Valdese unique.
I also hope to leave behind a stronger foundation for our youth. Investing in programs, recreation, and opportunities for the next generation is critical, because they are the future leaders of this town. At the same time, I want our town employees to feel supported and valued for their hard work, knowing they are the backbone of our community.
Ultimately, my legacy would be knowing that I helped build a Valdese where families thrive, businesses grow, and citizens feel proud to call this place home. If I can contribute to that vision, I will consider my time in office a success.
What are the three most pressing issues facing your community and how do you plan to address them?
The three most pressing issues facing Valdese are infrastructure, economic growth, and community investment.
Infrastructure: As our town continues to grow, it’s vital that our roads, utilities, and public services keep pace. I plan to work with fellow council members to prioritize updates and ensure resources are allocated wisely, focusing on projects that directly improve quality of life for our citizens.
Economic Growth: Small businesses are the heartbeat of Valdese, and we must continue to support them while also creating opportunities for new businesses to invest here. I will advocate for policies that encourage responsible development, attract visitors, and generate long-term revenue without compromising the charm of our town.
Community Investment: A thriving community depends on its people. That means supporting our hardworking town employees, strengthening parks and recreation, and investing in programs for youth and families. By doing so, we not only enrich lives today but also secure the future leadership of Valdese.
By addressing these three areas with balance, transparency, and collaboration, I believe we can honor Valdese’s heritage while preparing for a vibrant and sustainable future.
