Polls have now closed for all Burke municipal elections

It has been a slow morning for many of Burke County's 18 polling locations as of a quarter past noon, said Board of Elections Director Kenny Rhyne, but 55 voters had passed through the Valdese Rec Splash Pad between 6:30 and 10 a.m.

The location with the second highest traffic was the RO Huffman Recreation Center with 26 voters between 6:30 and 10 a.m., Rhyne said.

Rhyne said, as a reminder, that only 18 out of 31 Burke precincts are open, because this is a municipal election. There are no county, state, or federal races on this year's ballots.

Municipal contests are being held in Glen Alpine, Drexel, Valdese, Morganton, Connelly Springs, and Rhodhiss today.

If you are unsure of your registration status, you can check by using the state board’s voter search tool on this webpage: www.ncsbe.gov/registering/checking-your-registration. This tool will reveal your voter registration status, sample ballots, voting districts, your voter history, and your election day polling place.
