Western Piedmont Symphony (WPS) will bring live music into the streets and shops of downtown Hickory on Thursday, Sept. 18, with its SIDE/SHOW series. The free event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. during the Downtown Hickory Art Crawl and is supported by the City of Hickory.
SIDE/SHOW places chamber ensembles and guest musicians in nontraditional venues across downtown, offering everything from classical and folk to jazz and Americana.

Hickory Wine Shoppe (238 Union Square NW)
Maestro’s Quartet — WPS’s professional string quartet led by Music Director Matthew Troy, performing a mix of classical, folk, pop, and rock.
CommScope Stage (Union Square)
Bob Sinclair and the Big Deals — upbeat gypsy-jazz and Americana with a blend of chamber music and Southern storytelling.
Barley Market (109 Government Ave. SW)
Sono Auros — flute, cello, and harp ensemble performing classical and contemporary repertoire.
