The Carolina Renaissance Festival returns for its 33rd season beginning Saturday, Oct. 3, with new entertainment joining longtime favorites.
Located just north of Charlotte in Huntersville, the festival transforms a 25-acre outdoor village into a European-style country fair filled with fantasy, history, and live entertainment.
The festival will run for eight consecutive weekends through Nov. 22.
Visitors can expect interactive theater, circus performances, fairies, dragons, mermaids, falconry demonstrations, music, dance, and knights on horseback jousting three times daily in the Queen’s tournament arena.
New and returning special acts will also appear throughout the season.
Cirque Du Sewer will perform all season with trained cats, trained rats, and “semi-trained humans” taking on a lineup of record-setting stunts.
Blades & Bravery will perform Oct. 3-4 and Oct. 10-11 with knife throwing, stunt work, and the Spinning Wheel of Destiny.
Gabs the Fool will appear Oct. 17-18 and Oct. 24-25 with a silent, interactive mix of physical comedy, circus arts, and audience participation.
Tiny Girl! Big Show! returns Oct. 31-Nov. 1 and Nov. 7-8 with acrobatics, contortion, and magic.
The Lynx Show will close out the special guest lineup Nov. 14-15 and Nov. 21-22 with magic and sword swallowing.
Beyond the stage, the festival includes a marketplace where artisans demonstrate traditional crafts such as weaving, glass blowing, blacksmithing, jewelry making, pottery, and candle making.
There are also people-powered games and rides, food for feasting, and beverages including coffee, wine, honey mead, craft beers and ales, and soft drinks.
The festival encourages guests to leave modern life behind for a day, grab a turkey leg, cheer on a favorite knight, and step into the story.
