Drexel native Caroline Robbins Poteat has joined the Asheville law firm of Roberts & Stevens as an associate attorney.
Poteat, who is the daughter of Bill and Dinah Poteat of Drexel, and Sally Learned of Southport, attended Drexel Elementary, Heritage Middle, and East Burke High, from which she graduated in 2001.
Poteat graduated in May from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where she concentrated on environmental, land use, and municipal law.
She also holds master’s degrees in geography and Appalachian studies from Appalachian State University, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from American University.
Prior to law school, Poteat served as director of development for Blue Ridge Conservancy and as executive director of Valle Crucis Community Park.
At the firm, Poteat’s practice will focus on a variety of civil litigation matters, drawing upon more than a decade of professional experience in nonprofit leadership, land conservation, and community development in Western North Carolina.
Poteat, who grew up hiking in the South Mountains and the Blue Ridge with her father, says she is thrilled to be back in the mountains and practicing in Asheville.
