H.S. FOOTBALL: Patriots roll past Panthers in season opener
The Freedom varsity football team knocked off host Patton by a 33-0 score on Thursday night in a game that was called early in the third quarter due to lightning. Other local football games on Thursday saw East Burke fall to West Iredell by a 43-6 final in Statesville and Draughn suffer a 47-0 loss at the hands of Bunker Hill in Valdese. The latter contest was called in the third quarter due to lightning.
