After months of conversation, consternation, and controversy, the Valdese Town Council approved its budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 tonight.Â
But it almost didn't happen.
The 3-2 vote came after a lengthy discussion that included one council member wanting to push the vote off until June 22. When it came time for the vote, that council member — Shannon Radabaugh (Ward 1) — voted against approval, as did Heather Ward (Ward 5).
