EBHS baseball grads awarded Tarheel Leagues scholarship

East Burke High School 2026 graduates Jonas Weidner (right) and Rhett Houston (center) were each awarded the Tarheel Leagues scholarship by group representative Mack McLeod (left) on July 8 at the organization’s District 1 8U baseball tournament in Hickory. Both former Cavaliers were named all-county and all-conference selections this past spring. Houston, who also played American Legion baseball with Burke County Post 21 this summer, will attend Catawba Valley Community College starting this fall to continue the sport.
