Spring had sprung in March with 157 permits having a combined construction value of $10.62 million.
These permits include building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work for various interior upfittings, infrastructure improvements, and Hurricane Helene storm damage repairs.
121 residential permits include interior upfittings, remodeling of homes, home additions, and continued work on the Stonebridge Apartments
33 commercial permits were issued for restaurant upfitting, interior and exterior remodels, and internal mechanical/plumbing projects
Two permits issued for municipalities to fix flood damage at the City of Morganton’s Shuey Park and plumbing work for the County of Burke governmental offices building on Avery Avenue
One permit for electrical work at Freedom High School’s fieldhouse due to storm damage
Of those permits, 52 were issued for Stonebridge Apartments located on Stonebridge Drive. The $856,832 worth of work includes replacing aged components in their exterior and interior, like sinks, outlets, HVAC, etc.
Notable projects include:
$155,000 for heating/cooling/ventilation mechanical upfit from Ray Lackey Enterprises LLC, who owns Village Inn Pizza
$150,000 for the replacement of refrigeration lines at Ingles, but the work has been paused
$130,500 for the installation of fans, heaters, and hoods for the development of Olive Garden Italian Kitchen
$120,000 for installing cables for computers, phones, cameras, and a speaker at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet
$100,000 for heat and AC wiring for the empty tenant space in 139 W. Union St. building
$43,400 for reroofing at James Tool Machine & Engineering
The records are available through Morganton’s Development and Design Services department, which reviews and oversees permit requests.
