Burke teen places in Top 10 in state pageant

Local teen Phoenix Anderson competed in late May in the National American Miss State Pageant for the title of Miss North Carolina (Miss Division). Each participant must compete in formal wear, personal introduction, interview, and community involvement. They also get to compete in several optional competitions. Phoenix placed in the Top 10 and took home first runner-up in casual wear, first runner-up in Miss Personality, third runner-up in photogenic, and won the runway competition. Although she qualifies to compete at the national level in November, she is going to focus on college and her community. She looks forward to competing again next year and hopes that her community will support her journey.
