Burke Rec Dept. caps 3rd season of youth track program

Nearly 40 local second through fifth graders competed at the championship meet at Freedom High School on May 19 as the Burke County Recreation Department put a bow on the third season of its co-ed youth track and field program. The first-of-its-kind local program annually offers seven different running, jumping, and throwing events for local youths to compete in. “Special thanks to Coach Chip Lewis and staff for another great season,” program director Wesley Hasson said. “Also, thank you to all the parents and families who helped, and to everyone that participated this year, congratulations on all you accomplished.”
