Tuesday, March 3, is partisan primary election day, when registered voters choose who they want to be on the November General Election ballot.
Polling locations are separated into precincts. Burke County has a total of 31 precincts, all of which are active in this election because there are county, state, and federal races.
Registered Republicans must vote the Republican ballot. Registered Democrats must vote the Democrat ballot. Unaffiliated voters choose which ballot they wish to cast.
On election day, all voters must vote at their designated polling place.
For those who do not know their designated precinct, follow these steps:
Visit the N.C. State Board of Elections website at www.ncsbe.gov.
Under the “Voting” tab, click “Your Voter Record.”
On the new webpage, click “Launch the Voter Search.”
Fill in your information and click “Search.”
Find the name and city/state/zip that matches your information and click the name.
Scroll down to “Your Jurisdictions,” and your precinct will be visible at the top of the list.
