Clyde Edward Small Sr. (1916–1997) and his wife, Helen Atwood Stamey Small (1922–2007), operated Small’s Flowers on North Green Street in Morganton for 45 years. This family portrait, taken Aug. 30, 1948, shows (from left) Helen “Woodie” Atwood Small, Helen Atwood Stamey Small, Clyde Edward Small Sr., and Clyde Edward “Buster” Small Jr. Not pictured are their two other children, Harry Timothy “Tim” Small and Sara Lynn Small, who owned and operated a floral business in Morganton, Sara Lynn’s Flower Gallery, for many years. Clyde Small Sr. was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and an original member of the Morganton Parks and Recreation Board. This image was created by Greene Studio and submitted by the History Museum of Burke County and the N.C. Room (John T.
