Charlotte Douglas International Airport will receive $28 million for major infrastructure improvements, Congressman Tim Moore announced Monday.
The money, awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Fiscal Year 2026 Airport Terminal Program, will fund replacement of roofing systems and related HVAC units in the airport’s main atrium, south atrium and Terminal Concourse D.
The upgrades are intended to improve energy efficiency and help maintain safe, reliable service for travelers at one of the nation’s busiest airports.
“As Charlotte continues to grow, we’ve got to keep up with the infrastructure that supports our economy and connects people across the region,” Moore said. “Charlotte Douglas is one of the busiest airports in the country and a huge driver of our local economy. These improvements will help ensure the airport can continue serving travelers safely, which helps support our sustained growth and new jobs across our region.”
The FAA’s Airport Terminal Program provides funding to modernize airport terminals and related infrastructure across the country.
Moore represents North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District, which includes Cleveland, Gaston, Burke, and Rutherford counties, as well as parts of Mecklenburg and Polk counties.
