The Burke County Board of Education voted 4-3 tonight to relocate the district’s alternative school, Hallyburton Academy, to an independent wing of Draughn High School. Board members Leslie Taylor, Reid Beck, and Sonya Rockett dissented.
Monday’s decision came after more than a month of public discussion and controversy, stemming from misinformation and confusion that circulated following a joint staff meeting between Draughn and Hallyburton faculty on March 5.
The relocation will not occur until next school year, 2026-2027, and will affect approximately 30 students.

What is the graduate work in psychology or education that qualified the "dissenting" voters to know enough about child development to conclude they know more than the professional educators? Their dissent certainly was not based on the fiscally conservative concern about tax dollars.
