Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, Sarah and Craig Merrill have opened Merrill Mischief General Store in the former Morganton General Store space on West Union Street, bringing candy, fudge, coffee, and a fresh mix of general store offerings to downtown Morganton.
KEY DETAILS
Merrill Mischief General Store celebrates its soft opening today — Wednesday, May 20 — with its grand opening Saturday, May 23.
The store keeps familiar favorites, including candy, fudge, puzzles, Jim Shore collectibles, the candy boat and the beloved train.
New items include Morganton T-shirts, toys, candles, soaps, kitchenware, snacks, coffee, Asheville tea, and products from North Carolina businesses.
Craig Merrill will make 14 to 16 flavors of fudge and other Merrill Mischief treats in the back of the shop.
The Merrills plan to begin making fresh bagels in January using a recipe they brought from up north.
