CCC&TI launches new AI degree program

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is expanding its technology offerings with the launch of a new Artificial Intelligence Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program, providing students with an affordable pathway into one of the nation’s fastest-growing career fields.

The program is designed to prepare students for careers in artificial intelligence by combining classroom instruction with practical, hands-on learning. Students will study topics such as machine learning, automation, data analysis, and the ethical application of AI technologies while developing the technical and problem-solving skills employers are seeking across nearly every industry.

“Artificial intelligence is transforming how businesses operate, and employers need professionals who understand how to apply these technologies responsibly and effectively,” said Dr. Brian Morris, dean of business technology and engineering at CCC&TI. “This new program positions our students to enter an exciting field with tremendous opportunities while also supporting the workforce needs of our region and state.”

Graduates will be prepared for entry-level careers such as AI engineer, machine learning specialist, AI automation engineer, conversational AI specialist, AI consultant, software developer, and other technology-related positions. The program will also provide a strong foundation for students who plan to continue their education in bachelor’s degree programs in computer science, information technology, software engineering, data science, or related fields.

Demand for AI-skilled professionals continues to grow as businesses incorporate artificial intelligence into manufacturing, healthcare, finance, education, logistics, agriculture, government, and other sectors. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for data scientists — one of the occupations closely aligned with artificial intelligence — is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through the next decade, with median annual earnings exceeding $112,000. Many software development and AI-related careers also offer strong long-term earning potential as professionals gain experience.

The new program will help prepare students for careers in emerging technologies while also helping regional employers build a highly skilled workforce. Students will gain practical experience using industry-relevant tools and technologies, positioning them to contribute immediately in today’s AI-driven workplace.

CCC&TI’s Artificial Intelligence A.A.S. degree program is now open for enrollment for the fall semester, which begins Aug. 17.
