GRANT TO RENOVATE BUILDING FOR CHASE CORP.

Gov. Josh Stein announced that the City of Lenoir will receive a $186,000 grant to support the renovation of a 103,102-square-foot building in Lenoir to be occupied by Chase Corporation. Chase manufactures protective materials, including industrial coatings, tapes, adhesives, and sealants, for a variety of industries. The project is expected to create 37 jobs, with an investment of $233,274.

CCC&TI ReSUMÉ WORKSHOP

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will offer “Ready, Set, Hired! Resumé Writing & Optimization” from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Career Connections, Room F-146, at the Caldwell campus in Hudson. Registration is required; go to visit.cccti.edu. Participants may bring a draft resumé, although one is not required.

SCULPTURE CELEBRATION MARKS 40TH YEAR

The Caldwell Arts Council’s 40th annual Sculpture Celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at T.H. Broyhill Walking Park in Lenoir. The free, rain-or-shine event will feature sculptors competing for $11,000 in awards, along with live music and food trucks. Free shuttles will run from Mulberry Recreation Center. ANNUAL OPIOID SETTLEMENT MEETING

Caldwell County PORT (Post-Overdose Response Team) will host its annual Opioid Settlement Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. at the Health and Human Services Building, 2345 Morganton Blvd. At the public meeting, PORT team members will provide an update on their programs and gather input on how opioid settlement funds should be used.

The county receives more than $814,000 through national opioid settlements from legal agreements with companies involved in the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of opioids. Currently, the county spends opioid settlement funds on a post-overdose recovery team, recovery court, Naloxone distribution, and medication-assisted treatment.

In addition to the meeting, staff is also gathering input through the Opioid Settlement Community Input Survey. To complete the survey, visit caldwellcountync.info/opioidsurvey.

RICKY SKAGGS TO PLAY BROYHILL

A life full of music. That’s the story of Ricky Skaggs. By age 21, he was already considered a “recognized master” of one of America’s most demanding art forms, but his career took him in other directions, catapulting him to popularity and success in the mainstream of country music.

His life’s path has taken him through various musical genres, from where it all began in bluegrass music to striking out on new musical journeys, while still leaving his musical roots intact.

The show is Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center.

BURKE, CALDWELL CHAMBERS HOST BUSINESS @ THE BORDER
