Retired Burke County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Timothy Branch may be awarded his gun and badge soon, depending on how county commissioners vote on a resolution at their next meeting, which will be tomorrow at 6 p.m.
The meeting, which would normally be today, was moved so the county could observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The resolution to award Branch his gun and badge will be a decision item. Sheriff Banks Hinceman posed the idea to recognize Branch’s 11 years with the sheriff’s office. Before moving to the sheriff’s office, Branch served in the Valdese Police Department for more than 13 years.
Branch retired on Sept. 29.
Commissioners will also see a presentation from County Manager Brian Epley and CPA Alan Thompson from Thompson, Price, Scott, Adams & Co. regarding an audit of fiscal year 2025.
Additionally, Chief District Court Judge Robert Mullinax Jr. will present on the legal aspects of the foster care system as part of the county’s ongoing foster care informational series.
The meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room at 110 N. Green St. in Morganton on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. It can also be viewed via livestream at www.youtube.com/@BurkeCountyNC.
