Local golfers hit the links at Silver Creek

East Burke’s Brie Hubler, shown here in a file photo from Sept. 1 at Mimosa Hills Golf Club, was the Lady Cavaliers’ top individual finisher — she tied for 11th out of 22 total golfers in the overall standings — with a 54 during Tuesday’s nine-hole Western Piedmont 3A/4A Conference match at Silver Creek Golf Club in Morganton. Draughn (165) came in third out of five schools in the team standings, EB (169) finished fourth, and Patton (180) took fifth. Emma Starrett (sixth; 49), Ruby Adams (T-15th; 58), and Allison Grady (T-15th; 58) represented the Lady Wildcats; Alexis Russell (13th; 55) and Sophia Vaughn (19th; 60) joined Hubler as contributors to EB’s team score; Nora Wykle (T-15th; 58), Paige Hennessee (18th; 59), and Aubrey Lowdermilk (22nd; 63) represented the Lady Panthers; and NCSSM-Morganton’s Mady Schoenfisch tied for seventh with a 51 as a nonconference individual participant.
