Thornwell Books hosted its third annual Local Authors’ Showcase on Saturday, March 7, inviting readers to meet and support writers from Burke County and the surrounding region.
The event drew readers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the bookstore, 202 S. Sterling St. in downtown Morganton.
More than a dozen authors were scheduled to participate, including Ronda Eurey, Millie Hiatt, Terri Ingalls, Kim Joyce, Hannah R. Lyon, Janet Morrison, Mandy N. Olivieri, Pat Scheffler, Helen St. Clair, Patricia Thompson, and Chuck Walsh.
The showcase offered readers an opportunity to meet local writers, learn about their books and purchase signed copies.
Organizers said the event was designed to highlight the region’s growing literary community while creating a relaxed setting for conversation between authors and readers.
Thornwell Books, a downtown bookstore and coffee shop, regularly hosts literary programs and community events aimed at promoting reading, writing, and local creative talent.
