CoMMA Performing Arts Center will launch its 40th anniversary season with an unforgettable night of music, rhythm, and Southern soul when The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra presents “Spirit of New Orleans: A Soulful Celebration” on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m.
Marking four decades of live entertainment in Morganton, CoMMA’s 2026–27 season opener invites audiences to kick off the anniversary year with the infectious energy of New Orleans.
Led by the dynamic duo of Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson, the 11-piece orchestra brings a fresh, high-energy sound to the stage, blending the sophistication of big band swing with the grooves of funk, the soul of blues, and the unmistakable spirit of Mardi Gras.
From the sounds of Bourbon Street to the rhythms of the bayou, “Spirit of New Orleans” features timeless classics and modern favorites delivered with powerhouse musicianship and plenty of personality. Davis and Johnson are known for their engaging performances that turn a night at the theater into a shared experience — one that will have audiences dancing in their seats.
With soaring horns, infectious rhythms, and the joyful spirit of the Crescent City, The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra promises to bring New Orleans straight to Morganton for an opening night worthy of CoMMA’s 40th year.
