For months, Burke County residents have been waiting to find out the opening date of the Olive Garden. Now, plastered on an “opening soon” sign out front, people can look forward to never-ending salad and breadsticks on Nov. 10.
The restaurant, at 2111 S Sterling St., was previously the site of Fatz Cafe, which closed in August of 2023 as the company filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its locations.
In June 2024, KV Development LLC submitted plans for the restaurant to the City of Morganton’s Development & Design Department. The Fatz building was then demolished in February to make room for the new Olive Garden building.
The restaurant’s interior and exterior design is similar to the Statesville location, according to previous reporting, and is 6,327 square feet, which is spacious enough to seat around 150 people.
The restaurant will welcome customers for lunch at 11 a.m.
