Valdese residents may soon be prohibited from filling their pools when droughts call for a mandatory water reduction.
At its Monday meeting, Valdese officials will consider amending the Water Shortage Response Plan, making it so residents cannot fill their temporary or permanent swimming pools during “Stage 2, Mandatory Reductions.”
Valdese is currently in this stage.
This discussion will be during the regular meeting starting at 6 p.m. At the regular meeting, Valdese officials will also vote on:
Moving the 2026-27 Budget Hearing from June 1 to May 28
Rezoning 0 Griffin Ave. for a potential housing development
BUDGET PRESENTATION
At 5 p.m., Town Manager Todd Herms and Chief Financial Officer Bo Weichel will present the proposed, $8,915,829 2026-27 budget.
To view the proposed budget, visit townofvaldese.com and click “Menu” in the top right corner. Under the “GOVERNMENT” tab, find “Town Council” and click “Meetings & Agendas.” Scroll down to the 2026 meeting schedules. In the May 11, 2026 row, click “Budget Presented @ 5pm.” This will open the full budget proposal.
