The Town of Valdese will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m. to consider rezoning 0 Griffin Ave. NW from M-1 to R-8 for the 2 building, 3-story apartment complex.
The complex will have one-, two-, and three-bedroom options along with amenities like a picnic and outdoor seating areas, clubhouse, playground, internal sidewalks, and onsite dumpster/recycling.
The parcel is currently zoned for industrial/related uses, with small portions zoned as single-family residential, agriculture uses, and “town-scaled residential development within walking distance of services.” (M-1 with R-12 and R-8).
The parcel is owned by Hayne Hens Farm Inc, and the application was submitted by MC Morgan Associates Inc.
If approved, the application will go before the Board of Adjustment for a Special Use Permit.
The Planning Board recommended that the council approve the rezoning as inconsistent with the Valdese Vision Plan Future Land Use Map but is consistent with the residential priorities within the land.
