Burke County is competing to land a new manufacturing facility in a vacant former textile mill in Valdese, a project officials say could bring 64 jobs and nearly $7 million in new local investment over four years.
Commissioners have backed a performance-based tax incentive, and the state has offered a $950,000 incentive package.
The Town of Valdese will hold a public hearing Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. on the proposed incentive agreement. The unnamed company is weighing Burke County against a Virginia site.
