Morganton's Olive Hill CEDC helps families move from dream to keys

June marks National Homeownership Month, a time to recognize the importance of homeownership in building strong families, communities, and futures.

This year, Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation, Inc. (Olive Hill CEDC) is proud to support the effort through education, counseling, and hands-on support for residents in Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, and McDowell counties.

As a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, Olive Hill CEDC offers monthly homebuyer education classes and one-on-one counseling to help individuals and families become mortgage-ready and connect to down payment assistance programs.

HOMEOWNERSHIP TOOLS

Through a partnership with the NC Housing Finance Agency, Olive Hill CEDC counselors help buyers access a range of support programs:

• N.C. Home Advantage Mortgage — Offers down payment help up to 3% of the loan amount.
• N.C. 1st Home Advantage Down Payment — Provides $15,000 for eligible first-time buyers and veterans.
• Community Partners Loan Pool (CPLP) — Up to $50,000 in assistance for low- and moderate-income households.
• Self-Help Loan Pool (SHLP) — Supports Habitat for Humanity buyers with shared mortgage financing.

All programs are designed to reduce financial barriers and are accessible with guidance from Olive Hill CEDC’s certified housing counselors.

Olive Hill CEDC is committed to ensuring that home is within reach for everyone. Services are available year-round, with homebuyer education classes held on the third Saturday of each month.
