We are in the waning days of the early voting period for the March 3 partisan primary in Burke County. You can vote at any of the five locations through Saturday.
Through Tuesday, Feb. 24, 3,107 ballots had been cast, reflecting 5.5% of Burke County's 60,313 registered voters, according to statistics released by the Burke County Board of Education.
Unlike the March 3 primary election day when voters must go to their assigned precincts, Burke residents can vote at the early voting location most convenient to them. And apparently so far, that location has been the Burke Senior Center in Morganton, where more than 34% (1,051) of the ballots had been cast. The Burke County Board of Elections office is not far behind with 808 ballots.Â
Most of the ballots cast are Republican with 1,955 versus 1,112 Democratic ballots.Â
Want to still vote ahead of March 3? Hours of voting sites are 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.Â
