November ballot takes shape in Rutherford College, Hildebran

Two Burke towns — Rutherford College and Hildebran — will be voting on municipal offices in the Nov. 3 general election.

In Rutherford College, four seats on the seven-member council are up for grabs this year and all four incumbents filed for re-election.

Incumbent Mayor Yates Jensen and council members Kress Berry, Darel Malcolm, and Starr-Nell Bowman are seeking new 4-year terms in Rutherford College.

They will have no opposition.

In Hildebran, the mayor’s seat and three town council seats are up for grabs.

Incumbent Mayor Wendell Hildebrand chose not to run for reelection, so the race for the mayor's post has two candidates — former mayor Karen Robinson and Vicky Carpenter.

In the race for the three council seats, incumbents Jody York, Michael Smith, and Ben Honeycutt all filed for reelection.

Also joining the race for the three open seats are Chris Bailey, Travis Foster, Candice Jena Withers, and Roy Donald Cooke. 

In-person early voting begins on Thursday, Oct. 15. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 9.
