Two Burke towns — Rutherford College and Hildebran — will be voting on municipal offices in the Nov. 3 general election.
In Rutherford College, four seats on the seven-member council are up for grabs this year and all four incumbents have filed for re-election.
As of Thursday afternoon, no one had filed to run in opposition.
The filing period ended on Friday, July 17, at noon.
Incumbent Mayor Yates Jensen and council members Kress Berry, Darel Malcolm, and Starr-Nell Bowman will be seeking new 4-year terms in Rutherford College.
In Hildebran, the mayor’s seat and three town council seats are up for grabs.
Incumbent Mayor Wendell Hildebrand had not yet filed for re-election as of The Paper’s print deadline. Vicky Carpenter threw her hat into the ring on Thursday; Karen Robinson followed suit on Friday.
Incumbent councilmembers Mike Stroup, Ben Honeycutt, and Jody York have filed for re-election. Also competing for those seats are Chris Bailey and Travis Foster.
Two other candidates have also filed for the three council seats, Roy Donald Cook and Candace Jena Withers.
Check out The Paper’s website for the full list of candidates after the filing period closes.
In-person early voting begins on Thursday, Oct. 15. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 9.
