Children perform in the play, ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens at Rankin Hall at the North Carolina School for the Deaf in December of 1991. The classic story takes place at Christmas time and features a miserly businessman, Ebenezer Scrooge, who is greedy and cold-hearted. He is visited by several spirits, who hope to change him. Pictured (left to right) are Gavin Kiser, portraying the ghost of Scrooge’s business partner, Jacob Marley; Carrie Castillo, portraying the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come; Alicia Price, portraying the Ghost of Christmas Present; Natalie McAbee, portraying the Ghost of Christmas Past; and lying down is Daniel Hill, portraying Ebenezer Scrooge. This image was provided by the North Carolina School for the Deaf Historical Museum to Picture Burke, a digital photograph preservation project of the NC Room of the Burke County Public Library.
