'Wrap Up the Holidays Party' set Monday at C.B. Hildebrand Public Library

Gear up for the holiday with a “Wrap Up the Holidays Party” at 5 p.m. at the C.B. Hildebrand Public Library on Monday, Dec. 23.

Bring gifts to wrap, learn some wrapping techniques from a local wrapping legend, and compete in a wrapping competition all while watching some classic Christmas movies and eating snacks.

All library locations are closed Dec. 24-26.

Those seeking adventure can pre-register to participate in a D&D Holiday One-Shot at 1 p.m. at the C.B. Hildebrand Public Library on Friday, Dec. 27. Pre-registration is required to play, and this session is open to adults and teens.

Finally, we will wrap up the holiday week with a drop-in style Game Day at the Morganton Public Library from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.

ADULT PROGRAMMING

Needlework in the Morning will meet on Friday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Morganton Public Library. The group will meet upstairs in the Mr. Kistler wing. For information, call Danielle at 828-764-9269.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING

It isn’t too late to participate in a scavenger hunt at our Morganton and C.B. Hildebrand Public Libraries this month! Stop by the Youth Services desk downstairs at the Morganton Public Library to pick up a scavenger hunt paper. Once completed, turn back in at the desk for a prize. This scavenger hunt is for children of all ages. One prize per child per month.

At the C.B. Hildebrand Public Library, grab a sheet off the bookshelf, find the clues and answer this month’s question! The completed paper may also be turned in at the Circulation Desk and redeemed for a prize. This scavenger hunt is for children of all ages. One prize per child per month.

Storytimes are on a holiday break and will resume on Monday, Jan. 6. In the meantime, call any branch to sign up for our Spring session that runs from January through May. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

LIBRARIES CLOSED

All locations of the Burke County Public Library will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, through Thursday, Dec. 26, for Christmas and Wednesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers are needed at the Morganton Public Library to assist with landscape maintenance. We need some folks to help us keep our landscaped areas free of weeds and debris.

More than 5,000 Burke County Public Library users have registered to use the library’s digital collection available through the e-iNC consortium and NC Kids Digital Library.

This digital collection includes eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming video available to Burke County Public Library cardholders. Apps are available for download for a variety of devices including Kindle, iPhone, and Android phones.
