Caldwell County Schools has seven new principals this year

Caldwell County Schools will start the year strong on Aug. 24 with new principals across the district, according to Chief Information Officer Nathan Pope.

At West Caldwell High, Katrina O’Donnell has taken the reins.

“O’Donnell’s transition into this role ensures that the school’s vibrant Warrior Spirit will continue to flourish without missing a beat,” the district said. “Known for her unwavering support of students and staff, she works tirelessly to create an environment where students are equipped for long-term success through innovative programming and high expectations.”

Savannah Wilson took the helm at Davenport A+ Elementary.

The district said that as a lifelong musician, Wilson is uniquely qualified to lead the arts-centered school.

“Mrs. Wilson brings a dynamic energy and a commitment to collaborative leadership. Her educational philosophy centers on empowering teachers with the resources they need to thrive while keeping student achievement at the forefront of the school’s mission,” the district said. “She firmly believes that every student is capable of learning when educators meet them exactly where they are and provide the tailored support necessary for growth.”

Zach Morrow, known as a leader “who won’t stop” in advancing student success, will lead Hudson Middle School.

Morrow has a reputation for his commitment to fostering “strong foundations,” the district said, “ensuring that every student has the tools, resources, and emotional support they need to excel.”

The district said that Morrow “understands that the middle school years are a critical time for students to find their voice.”

Dawn DeMauro, new principal of Gamewell Elementary, was a student of the school as a child, making this more of a homecoming, the district said.

DeMauro is known for her ability to empower teams and create a positive school environment that inspires staff and students alike to give their all, according to the district.

She was also named the district’s Principal of the Year.

Jason Teffeteller is the new principal of Sawmills Elementary.

“Known as a caring and compassionate leader, Mr. Teffeteller is a firm believer in the power of an ‘open-door policy,’” the district said. “He welcomes students, staff, and families to share their ideas and concerns, ensuring every voice is heard.”

Kings Creek School will be led by Phillip Little.

Little understands that a school’s strength often lies in partnerships with its families and neighbors, the district said.

“His ability to foster these connections will be a primary focus as he steps into leadership at Kings Creek, ensuring that the school remains a vital and welcoming part of the community,” the district said.

Jennifer Decker, a seasoned and respected leader within the school system, according to the district, is now principal at Valmead Elementary.

Decker has been an assistant principal at multiple elementary schools and most recently, “balanced the unique responsibility of serving as the assistant principal for both Sawmills Elementary and Dudley Shoals Elementary, while simultaneously supporting a leadership transition at Gamewell Elementary,” the district said.

Decker has also taught in elementary classrooms and as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor.

The district also completed construction of a grant-funded greenhouse at South Caldwell High School, Pope said, where students in agriculture sciences programs can study horticulture.
