Carolina Caring, AMOREM receive CAHPS Honors Elite awards

A pair of local nonprofit healthcare providers recently earned major recognition, as Carolina Caring and AMOREM received 2026 Hospice CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Honors Elite awards.

Hospice CAHPS Honors Elite awards are presented annually to hospice organizations that score above the MatrixCare National Performance Score on 100% of the 22 evaluated Hospice CAHPS survey measures. These measures include communication, compassion, symptom management, emotional and spiritual support, and overall quality of care.

Carolina Caring serves Burke, Caldwell, and 11 other counties across Western North Carolina and the Charlotte region, while AMOREM’s service area includes Burke, Caldwell, and 10 other counties in WNC. The organizations were two of only nine institutions in the state to receive Hospice CAHPS Honors Elite awards this year, joining providers in Albemarle, Dobson, Flat Rock, Rockingham, Statesville, Tarboro, and Taylorsville.

Friends Fore Hospice golf tourney set for Oct. 5

The Carolina Caring Foundation will host its 24th annual Friends Fore Hospice Golf Tournament, the organization’s largest fundraiser supporting compassionate care for patients and families facing serious illness, on Monday, Oct. 5, at Catawba Country Club in Newton.

Funds raised through the tournament are instrumental in enhancing hospice and palliative medicine programs, expanding access to whole-person care, and ensuring that all patients can receive Carolina Caring’s assistance regardless of their ability to pay.

Paramount Automotive, a supporter of the golf tournament for over a decade and its presenting sponsor for the past five years, returns as this year’s presenting sponsor and will also sponsor the hole-in-one contest. The winner of the hole-in-one contest will receive a new car given by Paramount Automotive.

All golfers will have the opportunity to win special prizes and participate in the 50/50 golf ball drop contest for a chance to win a cash prize of up to $5,000. Individuals who are unable to attend the tournament but wish to support the Carolina Caring Foundation are encouraged to purchase a ticket for the 50/50 golf ball drop online at carolinacaring.org/ball-drop.
