Old Colony Players (OCP) announced its 2027 productions last week, starting with “Seussical Jr.” in January and ending with “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” in December.
The upcoming season marks the first time Executive Director Corie Schreiber helped select the shows, because when she joined OCP last year, the 2026 shows had already been chosen.
“I am so thankful that I had a strong committee behind me to help me choose quality shows,” Schreiber said. “We had to make some tough decisions taking into consideration shows that the actors wanted to do and shows that we knew audiences wanted to see, and I think this season is the perfect sweet spot between the two.”
Between “Seussical Jr.” and “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,’” OCP will also have productions of “The Producers” from mid to late April, the group’s flagship show “From This Day Forward” from July to August, and “Macbeth” in October next year.
“Oh, I do not know if I could pick one that I am most excited for,” Schreiber said. “‘The Producers’ is a really amazing musical that I have watched the movie version of for years, but the 60th anniversary of ‘From This Day Forward’ is really tugging on my heartstrings.”
OCP’s next show will be “Descendants: The Musical” from Oct. 22-25. Tickets and showtimes are available on oldcolonyplayers.com.
Schreiber said auditions for this year’s Christmas production, “The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon” will be held on Oct. 12-13 at 6 p.m. at the Old Rock School in Valdese.
