Hart Square Foundation will host the Tavern to Table Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Hart Square Village in Vale.
More than a meal, the Tavern to Table Dinner is a celebration of traditional Appalachian foodways. During one-hour, small-group tours, guests will learn about food preparation and preservation on early homesteads, cooking over an open fire, and historic gristmilling as they meet and learn from foodways historians.
The evening will then culminate with a multi-course dinner that connects the past to the present. Crafted by Chef Ben Sullivan of Cranford Hospitality, the meal is historically and regionally inspired.
Proceeds from the Tavern to Table Dinner directly support Hart Square Village’s mission of cultural preservation, helping safeguard traditional crafts, stories, and ways of life for future generations.
“The Tavern to Table Dinner is a unique, immersive dining experience,” Development Director Lorissa Vines said. “I hope you will join us for this special evening that is rooted in tradition.”
Tickets must be purchased online by Sunday, Sept. 13, at hartsquare.com/product/tavern-to-table-dinner, where the menu can also be viewed. Reservations for the tour and subsequent meal are available in 15-minute increments between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 19.
Hart Square Village is an open-air museum that consists of over 100 historic log structures built between 1760 and 1893. Hart Square Foundation is the nonprofit organization tasked with preserving Hart Square Village and sharing traditional arts and trades.
