The professional wrestling event originally scheduled for Jan. 12 at the Burke County Fairgrounds will now be held there on Sunday (Jan. 19) after winter weather forced the North American Wrestling Alliance (NAWA) to postpone its ninth annual Bunkhouse Stampede by one week.
The NAWA came to the Burke County Fairgrounds, at 145 Bost Road in Morganton, on five occasions in 2024, but this will be the first time the promotion has been in Burke County since Sept. 7. The main event will feature 30 men in an over-the-top-rope battle royal, with the winner earning the chance to challenge for the NAWA championship of their choosing (Heavyweight Title, Television Title, Carolinas Title, or Tag Team Titles) at any time over the next year.
Competitors announced for the Bunkhouse Stampede, which will see a new wrestler enter every 60 to 90 seconds until 29 participants have been thrown over the top rope and only one remains, are as follows: Asher Reign, Vinnie Valentine, Mason Allen, Max Carnage, Mike Maughan, Robert Allen, Thunderfoot, Dusty Money, Lil’ Donnie, El Incognito, Tucker Rhodes, Luke Fury, Titan, High Performance, Chief Jay Eagle, Justin Kindred-Allen, Gavin Tyler, Tony Benge, Dre White, Thomas Extreme, Dugat, F.A.F.O., David Sellers, Steve Allen, Myric Moore, Jett Morris, Carolina Dreamer, Curtis Robertson, and Big Nasty. There is also expected to be a surprise entrant, and each grappler is permitted to bring a weapon to the ring.
Four other matches are also scheduled for the event, which will begin with a meet-and-greet at 3 p.m. Longtime pro wrestler George South, a Charlotte resident who won last year’s Bunkhouse Stampede to become the inaugural NAWA Carolinas Champion and has held on to the title ever since, will be among the wrestlers in attendance for the meet-and-greet, and the first match will start at 4 p.m.
General admission tickets for adults are $10, while children ages 6-12 will be admitted for $5 and kids ages 5 and younger get in free. Free parking will also be available, and concessions can be purchased as well.
Tickets for NAWA Bunkhouse Stampede can be purchased online at tinyurl.com/2zh4yv6c or at the door prior to the show.
