East Burke High School senior Karlie Micol on May 21 signed her national letter of intent to continue her softball career at Surry Community College beginning next spring. Pictured alongside Micol (seated) are her father as well as (standing, from left to right) EBHS assistant coach Jennifer Fulbright, head coach Tracy Greene, and athletic director Chip Watts. Micol — a pitcher/infielder who began her prep career at Draughn before playing her final two seasons with the Lady Cavaliers — as a senior this spring was limited to five games, in which she tallied three hits including a double and scored three runs while driving in one. Micol also plays travel ball with the Dirt Devils Elite organization. Surry is a member of the NJCAA Division III Region 10, posting an 11-40 overall record in 2026.
