Silver Creek Golf Club via its Facebook page recently announced details for the 2026 Burke County Open golf tournament, which will be contested from July 24-26.
Mimosa Hills Golf Club will not host any portion of this year’s event as the BC Open moves exclusively to Silver Creek. Silver Creek hosted the entire event most recently in 2023, but the course has never solely hosted a 54-hole version of the event prior to being scheduled to do so this year.
Start times for the three days have not yet been determined. In the past, the first two rounds featured morning shotgun starts, with final-round tee times starting mid-morning on day three.
Flights are typically established after day two of the stroke-play event, with all players being flighted by total score, including senior division and super senior division players. The event in the past has paid out roughly the top third of each flight.
In addition to senior and super senior, divisions of play this year again include championship and open. All championship division competitors will play the blue tees the first two days, with the championship ‘A’ flight moving back to the silo tees on day three. The open division is intended for those ages 59 and under who prefer to play the white tees each day.
Seniors (ages 60-69) will also play from the white tees each day, and super seniors (70 and older) will play from the gold tees each day.
Registration cost is $250 for non-members, $140 for members, or $80 for members with trail fee, which includes all green fees and range fees, as well as a meal after the second round and tournament prize pool contribution.
New this year, there will be a $20 optional skins game each day within each division as well as an optional $50 players pool for the final round which will pay out the top two finishers in each division.
Alex Bock of Morganton (12-under par) is the defending champion, while Hickory’s Keith McGillvary (5-over) is the two-time reigning senior champ, and Morganton’s David Simpson (even-par) claimed the 2025 super senior crown.
