Winter Carnival is set for Saturday, Nov. 23, in downtown Morganton

Morganton’s annual Winter Carnival is set for today, Saturday, Nov. 23, from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on the Historic Courthouse Square in the heart of downtown Morganton. The event will also feature the ceremonial first lighting of the downtown business district as dusk descends. Shown above is Kasey Goodfellow, community events coordinator for the Morganton Main Street Program, and city electrician Blake McGinnis, working on decorating a new Christmas tree on the Square on Wednesday afternoon.
