Just for the kiddos, The Morganton Public Library is hosting an Alien Walk today (Saturday, Oct. 26). Participants must meet on the front lawn before the departure time of 2 p.m.
Dress up as an alien if you wish and walk through downtown Morganton while having some out-of-this-world fun. The walk will end at the Brown Mountain Lights Festival on the Historic Morganton Square.
On Monday, Oct. 28, Matt Sandbank’s Shadow Factory will be at the Morganton Public Library for a Halloween-themed shadow puppet show like you haven’t seen before!
Matt Sandbank is a nationally touring shadow puppeteer based in Durham. His performances have awakened a sense of wit and wonder at schools, libraries, museums and festivals for the past 10 years.
The show starts at 6 p.m. in the Kistler Wing upstairs. All ages are welcome, and no pre-registration is required.

YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMMING
It may be the end of the month, but YAS still has a few tricks up their sleeves as we wrap up the week.
Monday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. is our monthly Anime Club at the C.B. Hildebrand Public Library. Snacks and ramen will be provided.
Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m. is Inter-snack-tive Movie Night at the Valdese Public Library. This month we’ll be watching “Beetlejuice” (1988 | PG) and having themed snacks.
The new YAS Homework Lounge will also be open during the program for teens who would like to study or work on homework in a quiet space in lieu of watching the movie.
This is the last week to bring in items for the YAS Service Project for the month. Donation bins are available at all library locations.
For more information about these and other YAS programs, call Lizzie at 828-764-9273 or by email at lizzie.whisnant@burkenc.org.
