Superheroes, rock stars, witches, and goblins of all ages are invited to downtown Morganton on Friday, Oct. 30, for the return of the beloved Downtown Halloween Spooktacular, hosted by the City of Morganton Main Street Office.
This free, family-friendly event will take place from 3-6 p.m. and features safe trick-or-treating with local businesses, a festive carnival on the Historic Courthouse Square, a costume contest, and plenty of Halloween fun for all ages.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Trick-or-treating | 3-5 p.m.
Downtown merchants with friendly ghost window decals will be handing out treats to costumed children. A full map of participating businesses will be available at www.downtownmorganton.com.
Halloween carnival | 3-6 p.m.
Held on the Historic Burke County Courthouse lawn, the carnival features free hayrides along with inflatables, courtesy of Summit Community Church.
Witches dance | 4:15 p.m.
Don’t miss the ever-popular witches flash mob on East Union Street.
Sanderson Sisters | 4:30 p.m.
The Sanderson Sisters will perform on the Historic Courthouse Square Stage and rove around for photo opportunities.
Costume contest | Judging from 5-6 p.m.
Registration opens at 3:30 p.m. near the Historic Courthouse. Judging begins at 5 p.m.
Prizes (Downtown Bucks) will be awarded to first-, second-, and third-place winners in the following categories:
Newborn to 2 years
Ages 3–5
Ages 6–10
Group/family (three or more people with a theme)
There is no cost to participate in the costume contest, and no registration is required for other activities.
