ACE 2026 to bring national economic development leaders to Morganton

The Industrial Commons will host a four-day economic development program in Burke County next spring aimed at professionals working to strengthen place-based and cooperative regional economies.
The organization announced dates for ACE 2026, short for Accelerating Common Economies, which will run April 28 through May 1 in Morganton and Asheville. The program is designed as an immersive learning experience focused on shared infrastructure, commons-based business models and cross-sector collaboration.
ACE is open to economic, community and workforce development leaders, policymakers, funders, developers and others working on inclusive and resilient regional economies. The program will be offered in both English and Spanish.
Participants will examine real-world examples from The Industrial Commons and PODER Emma ecosystems and receive feedback on strategies and barriers in their own work. Organizers said the program also emphasizes peer learning, practical tools and next steps for accelerating impact.
The cost to attend is $400 per person.
The Industrial Commons is based in Morganton and focuses on strengthening local manufacturing, worker ownership and community-based economic systems.
