The Charlotte Hornets tapped Innovative Outfitters, a Connelly Springs company, to print 20,000 T-shirts for the first of two make-or-break games after the basketball team secured their spot in the NBA play-in tournament.
Spectrum Center staff will distribute the shirts, placing them on seats across the arena ahead of Tuesday’s 7:30 p.m. game against the Miami Heat.
If the Hornets beat the Miami Heat, they face off against either Orlando or Philadelphia on Friday — with the winner locking in their place in the playoffs.
“We were told of the possibility late last week, so we staged the shirts so that we would be ready,” said James Causby, CEO and founder of Innovative Outfitters, the company preparing the shirts.
“We received the artwork at the end of the day on Friday and we set up our presses last night at 10 o’clock,” he continued. “After the national standings were released, we were told to start printing this morning.”
Innovative Outfitters works with national companies regularly, and due to their printing capacity and location about an hour from Charlotte, they were well-positioned to get the shirts ready and delivered within a day.
Causby expected to have 10,000 shirts printed and out the door by 2 p.m. Monday, with the remaining 10,000 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte by 10 a.m. Tuesday.
