Early voting is underway -- cast your ballot in one of 4 Burke County sites

While election day isn’t until November, early voting kicked off Thursday, Oct. 16, with four polling locations available to Burke County voters.

The Burke County Board of Elections recently announced the early voting sites, naming two in Morganton, one in Glen Alpine, and one in Connelly Springs.

• Burke County Board of Elections office, at 2128 S. Sterling St., Suite 100 in Morganton.
• Burke Senior Center, at 501 N. Green St. in Morganton.
• Glen Alpine Town Hall, at 103 Pitts St. in Glen Alpine.
• Rutherford College Town Hall, at 980 Malcolm Blvd. in Rutherford College.

Polling locations will be open:

• Oct. 16 and 17: Thursday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Oct. 20 to 24: Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Oct. 27 to 31: Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Nov. 1: Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Burke County voters may vote at any early voting location, according to the N.C. State Board of Elections. Those who choose to vote on election day, Nov. 4, must vote at their designated polling location.

On election day, polling locations will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to the state board.

BRING YOUR ID

Valid photo identification is required to cast a vote either during the early voting period or on election day. Valid IDs include a North Carolina driver’s license, a U.S. passport, and state IDs. For a complete list, visit www.ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id.

The deadline for voter registration was Oct. 10. People who missed the deadline can register and vote on the same day at an early voting location. This option is not available to most people on election day.
